Michael Katz was part of BP’s global privacy team being BP’s Data Privacy Manager for the US and the Regional Privacy Coordinator for the Americas.

Michael has over 16 years’ experience in Privacy management and was responsible for implementing BP’s global privacy program in the US and the Americas. While Michael’s data privacy remit is all encompassing, Michael’s specialty is in risk assessment, containment and mitigation, including conducting privacy audits both internally and at supplier locations globally. In this role he has developed numerous audit approaches and risk assessment tools which were deployed by BP globally.

As part of the global privacy team Michael was responsible developing and implementing, on a global scale, processes and tools to support compliance with European General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Michael has a Master’s Degree in Labor and Industrial Relations and is a member of the American Petroleum Institute’s Data Privacy council and the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Michael is a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) and Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT). Michael has also been recognized as a Fellow in Privacy (FIP) by the IAPP.
